The York University President’s Research Excellence Award recognizes senior established, full-time, active faculty members at the rank of Professor, with distinguished scholarly achievements who have had a notable impact on their field(s) and made a significant contribution to advancing the University’s international reputation for research excellence while significantly and positively contributing to one or more aspects of the York community’s intellectual life. The 2025-2026 Award is open to researchers in Disciplinary Cluster 1: Engineering, Science, Technology, Health and Biomedicine. Nomination Deadline: Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 4:30 p.m.
The nominee must be at the rank of Professor and must agree to have their name put forward for this award.

The Awards Committee ranks nominations based on the extent to which the nominee meets the nomination criteria. The nominee’s achievements must be documented to demonstrate their fulfillment of the following general requirements:
Nominees must have demonstrated their leadership not only as outstanding researchers, but also as notable contributors to York’s intellectual community. Examples may include, but are not limited to:
